Yoga Etiquette
We, at Bikram Yoga Avondale, would like to thank you for the commitment you've made to improve your health and wellbeing through a consistent Bikram Yoga practice. Out of respect for your teacher and in consideration of your personal practice and your fellow yogis please read and practice proper yoga etiquette.
Be on time to class (we recommend you arrive 10 minutes early).
As a courtesy to the teacher and your fellow students, please avoid leaving the room. Make sure you have used the restroom and that you have plenty of water before class begins.
No shoes, gum, cell phones or pagers allowed in the yoga room.
Please keep your body and feet clean when attending class.
In consideration for those with sensitivities or allergies, please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or strongly scented products in class. Deodorant is great!
Please practice silence in the yoga room before, during and after class. We encourage you to visit with your friends in the lobby!
Avoid eating 2 - 3 hours before class.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day before class. Proper hydration is critical.
Yoga is meant to practiced daily. The more often you come - the better you will feel.
Practice normal breathing. Keep your mouth closed and breathe normally in and out of your nose.
Practice stillness in between postures.
Stay aware in class. Move together. Listen and follow the teacher's dialog to get maximum benefit from the posture and keep group energy strong.
Think positively!
Respect the teacher, yoga and the tradition.
After class drink plenty of water.
